Me!

I went hiking up Mt. Magnus on Sunday. It was blistering hot. I cursed and swore all the way up! But the view up top was lovely. And I could sit up there comfortably without having to bundle up. Could life get any better then that? Look at my lovely lunch spot.

Gobo's better
Just thought I'd mention that Gobo's improving. I saw the bruise today on the bottom of her foot. So no needed trip to the vet. Whew!

Gobo was very hormonal the other day and went crazy flying around. Because I'm silly not to clip Gobo's wings, she hurt herself in a door. She won't use her left foot right now. Though, she's become good at getting around with just one..she won't let it defeat her, amazing!
Let's hope she gets better. I have not taken her to a vet yet, as she is in no serious danger and other bird people say it might be bruised or sprained, as the foot looks ok. I'll give it a few days or so, then I'll make a vet appt. Though, there prob isn't much they can do with it, although it would be good to know if it's broken or not, even though it doesn't look like it is.

Bike Seat- Gone!
My beatup bike locked up on the right.

My $15 dollar seat and post
Silly fool I am. I have a beat up seat for a beat up 17 yr old bike. What person would want a worn out seat? I therefore, locked my bike up (inside my apartment, but in the foyer for convenience- either that or drag up 4 flights of stairs), but left my seat on...which, until now, no problem! My faithful seat was always there.
Yesterday morning, I went down to bike to go to work. Hah! No seat! Darn gosh! I still had to bike to work, no time to walk. So, I biked seatless.
I was ready to face the fact that I would have to be spending at least $60 for a seat and post..when I bumped into a regular customer at work. He saw some broken bikes in an alley that day, with a seat and post! After work, I went there, but the post was slightly too small for my bike, so it wouldn't tighten up. The customer then offered his seat on his bike! He says he probably found it in some alley too, and that he had more posts and seats at home (in not as good as shape) I couldn't believe it! I was so overwhelmed. I didn't want it for 'free', so I offered him all the cash I had in my wallet, $15. Which, I think for a post and a decent seat, is more then reasonable!
Now my seat comes with me everywhere. What a lesson to learn, even if locked inside a public place, don't trust no one...
******UPDATE****
-6pm PST-
My bike seat has been found 20 minutes ago....by a neighbour. She saw my bike outside without a seat...and saw my stolen seat in the bushes, so she thought maybe...
just maybe. Good thing I wanted to paint bike, and left it outside, or the seat would never have made it's way back to me. I mean, heck, I didn't think to look around the bushes..to see if it was dumped. I suppose I should have.

Bowling tonight
Tonight, I went 10 pin bowling. Work finally organized something fun to do. We did 2 games and despite me not having bowled for who knows how long, I did pretty good! I had a few strikes in there. It was a good evening to bowl, as the weather sucked today.

fire night # 3
Is the garage next?
Someones been starting fires for 3 nights, in the field next door. The firemen are concerned it's the beginning of an arsonist. They are also concerned about the garage on the field, will that be next? Or will the current rain put a damper on things?

The Aftermath

2 fires, not 1 as first thought
This morning, I looked out the window at where the fire(s) were. I guess that there were 2 separate fires. I wonder if whoever started the first one, stuck around till after the firemen left and lit the second one? Hmmmmm.. kids with too much free time...

Fire outside my window

Fire out my Apt.
Out I looked tonight, and there was a fire in the nearby field. I called 911, but someone already beat me to the punch. Fire was put out by fireman.
Then, shortly after they left, it 'relit' itself in exactly the same spot. Hard to say if the firemen didn't snuff the fire out extensively enough or not, or if the person who started the previous fire relit it.
This time, I got the honours of calling the fire trucks out....I've got lots of experience now with that...
