Devon

As I am busy today (finally), I am quickly posting 2 photographs of Devon. I climbed up some rocks while there and got these great views. You can see the ocean in the distance in one of the shots.

More Artsy?!! Can you handle more?

Polarized
I am going to torture you with another 'artsy' piece. I know, nothing original here....I need inspiration..I suppose that sometime I should take more pics of those yellow banners downtown..there are lots of them.

There will be lots of opportunities to take some good shots later on this year...I have a bike trip planned for the beginning of June. Plus my regular hiking/camping trips..I will back to doing more this year because I have no overseas or other big trip planned.

Dartmoor Ponies

Here is a little collage I just created featuring Darmoor Ponies. These are some 'wild' ones that I was while in Dartmoor Natl. Park.

Here's a little blip about their background:

Quote:
This breed originates from the southwest coast of England in the county of Devon. It received its name from a wild area of moorland called Dartmoor, which stands over 1000 feet above sea level. Dartmoor’s weather can be quite intense. It receives full force gales from the Atlantic Ocean and the terrain is very rocky with sparse vegetation. In response to this environment, the pony became sure-footed, hardy and full of stamina enabling it to survive in almost any climate or condition in the world.

Chilkotin and Vineyards

Hard climb up
Very flowery
View all 5 photos...
Here are some pictures from hikes:

1. Picture of mountains in the Chilkoltin- my favourite area in British Columbia.

2. Here are 2 photos of Vineyards- 2 hrs from here. We were lucky to get good weather and flowers, all on the same weekend. I love the vibrancy of the colours on the Paintbrushes. As you can see, it was very lush...despite the altitude.

Here are 2 submissions to the latest photo challenge- >> Architectural Building
I loved taking photographs in Berlin, in fact, despite the beauty of the old buildings, I was quite overwhelmed when I stumbled (literally) upon the new part of the city. All the glass! I was in photo heaven.

If I wanted to save some $ on a particular day, I would spend most of the day hunting for places to photograph. I could have just as much fun doing that, as I would be going to a museum, or joining a tour. It made for some cost savings on a big trip, which I could use at a later date. All that I would have to spend would be a bus pass (in big cities where you can't walk everywhere), and perhaps some food which I would get at a street vendor if I could.

My South Downs Guidebook

View all 4 photos...
Here is the book that I used to follow The South Down's Way in the south eastern part of the UK.

I even collected some flora, which I taped to the pages of the book which talk about the area that I picked up the flora. I also have a habit of collecting rocks, Poland being my latest addition.

I know I should be resting my knee, but I decided to have a bit of fun with my camera. I took a picture of this candle that my friend gave me last Christmas. Sorry that it is a bit grainy, I used 400 ISO for this dark shot.

Sussex

Lewes in Distance
Beachy Head
Me at Exceat
I have some photos of Sussex, around Lewes.. In 2002, I walked the The South Down's Way on my own. It was such a great way to explore the UK and I hope to get to do another walk in the future. I'm enjoying an English treat in one pic- ice cream with a flake bar in it. Mmmm.

Today, I tripped over a co-worker's foot while putting food together (I work in a restaurant). I hit the floor on my hands and knees. And it hurt because the floor is so hard. Thankfully, I didn't break anything, but my knee has swollen up. I decided to try home treatment with some ice, and hopefully the swelling will go down soon....It'll mean a lazy evening, but that's alright...

I got a ride home and I will be getting a ride to work tommorrow, so that my knee will have as much of a rest as it can. Though, working in a restaurant, it'll be hard not to use.

Carolyn:-)

That would be East Sussex, of course. As I mentioned to you in email, my husband grew up in Lewes and was particularly homesick when he saw these lovely photos. Thu 19-Jan-2006 04:57

Gone to the dogs

The first picture is of the Dog Graveyard at Portmerion...which I think is neat. Though when my birds die I want to cremate them and toss the ashes into the air....

Next on is of the Seven Sisters in Sussex. I was lucky enough to hike over all 7 hills in 2002. This is a famous shot of the hills and the most recent time I saw them was in the latest Harry Potter movie.
