Merry Christmas to all!
I had a nice Christmas. On the 24th, I went out to dinner at a local Chinese restaurant with co-worker Jenn and her family.
On the 25th, I went to Yolanda and Ernst's place for tea and cake in the afternoon. Yolanda is from Nicaragua, so I am always interested in learning about the country. She returned recently from a 5-week tour from there, so she had some photos to show me.
Then, I went to co-worker Elazar's place for dinner and karaokee. And yes, I actually sang. Easier to do that in a closed setting, rather then a pub.
I opened my presents in the morning by myself..and I got some drinking glasses, some gift cards, Spamalot cd, Clinique stuff...my family who lives 700 kms south phoned me up to wish me Merry Christmas.
I get today off, as it is Boxing Day here in Canada. I can't wait to see the Dr. Who Christmas special tonight on CBC.

Gobo's Egglaying

Even though it is almost Winter here, Gobo seems to go through her egg-laying cycle during this time of year. Last year, she laid 5 eggs, this time, it seems she chose 4. She tends to ignore me more during the cycle, though she appreciates getting out of the cage for some exercise and a 'scratch' by me!
Here are 2 pics- one of last year's clutch of unfertilized eggs and the other a comparison of the size of the eggs.
Tonight, I went to coffee with a friend. I am very shy sometimes when it comes to meeting 'guys' and tonight was no exception. But we are just friends which is what I like...no pressure. But, sometimes, I think I need to get out more...even if I don't feel like it!

Xmas Tree

I used my camera again! Inspiration is hard to come by. But the spirit of the season is catching.
Here is a pic of my tree.....it's small, but hey, just for me. A big one wouldn't be right. I miss real trees, but this one is nice, and I like the fiber optics lighting.
Only a couple more days till the holidays. I thought I would be getting a 3 day weekend with sat, sun, and Boxing Day monday off), but I might be only getting Sat/Sun off. I would prob get that day off next Friday. So, we'll see.
What do you think of my fotopage? I am sorry that I am not much of a writer. I am not as much into the moment as I am when I am travelling..I am very laid back in comparison. Living by myself, things have been pretty quiet.

Xmas is almost here!

Christmas is almost here. I can just barely bare to listen to christmas music now. It's hard getting into the mood when you live on your own. I don't go to visit parent's at Xmas, because of some personal problems. I go to friend's places during the season to try to have a little fun.
Sometimes, I like to look at the light displays on various houses, though I haven't done that this season so far. Here are some pics from last year...

Here are some pics of my Finnish friend's Parson's Russell puppies. I think that they are so cute! Sorry, no new pics...not much for inspiration and "it's too cold outside!" (the wimp inside me yells out)

Got to tell you about a special thing that happened today.
I had to walk to walk to work with my veggie tray for this evening's potluck. I was worried how the veggies would be like as it was -15 C outside.
As I was walking along, a city bus stopped on the corner. It turns out my favourite busdriver, Bob, was taking children around showing them the Christmas lights. He opens the door, asks me if I am on my way to work, and then says 'Hop on aboard!'
Now, this was no scheduled bus, this was a special charter for these children. As I sat down, I proceeded to start singing Christmas Carols with them. Ah! What fun! I sang all the way to work. He dropped me off right in front of work. Could you ask for a more special moment?
I said my goodbyes and left the bus blurting out Merry Christmas!!
I'll never forget this busride anytime soon. (and I normally don't take the bus- but know many of the busdrivers, and Bob is one of the most devoted) Thank you Bob.

I'm prepping my food for tommorrow's potluck (My hiking club is holding it)
I went simple again this year, this time picking veggies & dip. How much more simple can you get then this? Just wash, cut and place...some even came like that, so all I had to do is take them out of their packaging and wash them before placing them onto the custom veggie tray that I have.
No cooking, no baking, not much dishwashing...I've got it made!
A friend is supposed to be picking it up now, but he hasn't arrived, and his phoneline is busy. So I may have to walk it with me to work and have someone else pick it up there. I can't make it to the Potluck right when it starts...
So here are a couple of rather uninspired pics of these veggies....but perhaps I'll make stills with them later on also.
My cold is disappearing and I'm getting better day by day...I am glad that I took Tuesday off, and I am glad I got it..many others at work couldn't get the day off.. So this is a nasty cold I see...

Hi there,
I put up some more pics. Kind of a boring day....haven't done much today. I should be good enough to go to work tommorrow. Though, glad I took today off.
I've been hanging alot on the net and watching lots of tv. I am happy that I have the cable at the moment.
Good thing about tommorrow, I don't start work till 11am, so I can get some extra sleep. I don't know what I work on Thurs and Fri as I haven't had the urge or chance to walk to the main place (I work at 2 places) that has the schedules..I probably will phone them tommorrow to ask about my thurs shift.

Flu blues

I am staying home today, as I either have the cold or the flu. So, just a lazy day for me.
I've uploaded a pic of some flowers I bought in Sept..I think they were Mums. I really liked the colour..it'll cheer me up.
I got my Canon back yesterday, and my friend showed me his brandspanking new Nikon D70. Wow! I wish I could afford that. Though, I have to admit, it can be challenging to lug around an SLR..though the capabilities would outweigh that.

Last night, I went to the local Filipino club's Christmas party. Despite me being under the weather, it was fun. I really liked the food...
There were a lot of people there which is good. This party will make up for the cancelled one from work. Yep, our work party was cancelled because of some of the young kids drinking. (I work at a restaurant where a majority of workers are younger). Well, that was the owner's reason not to hold party, but who knows the truth? Makes them look cheap though..they think it is hard to get and keep employees before, now it'll be much harder..there will be extreme employee turnovers.
I miss my Canon camera though...I can only take 17 pics at a time with my Sony, as I have not memory card for it. And I can't do half as much with it compared to the Canon. But it will be back tommorrow. But I am glad that I have the backup camera as I wouldn't have been able to post these if I didn't have my Sony.
