It's snow fun.

Wolf Track
Push harder!
Buckeburg Palace
View all 5 photos...
Hello again,

Here are a couple of pictures from a hike last weekend. We were supposed to climb up high, but because we had our first snow of the season, and because people seem to forget how to drive in snow...we did an short and easy hike so that we could make it back home before dark. Our days are short now- sun rises at 8 and sets just after 4pm.

The track is from a wolf, which we did not see. But it knew we were around..we came back out the same way we came in, so we know that the tracks were fresh. Only once have I been lucky enough to see a pack of wolves, just off the highway.

The other pick, is us having a bit of fun in the snow...made the best of the day...good thing that we didn't push too hard, it's a long drop....

Photo Challenge # 97 I've uploaded a couple of pics from a recent trip to Europe. This palace is located in Buckeburg, Germany. (Just outside of Hannover) These pictures were taken in June.

I don't think I have ever seen a wolf, either, not even on a trip to Isle Royale in Lake Superior. We did see families of usually-elusive foxes, however, and plenty of moose! It was a long time ago, however, so maybe I DID see a wolf and have forgotten. Yeah -- that's it: I DID see a wolf. Wed 16-Nov-2005 18:01

Welcome to 423

Welcome to 423
Puma Tracks
Farwell Dune
Welcome to Carolyn's place.

I am starting this photoblog as a winter project. In the summer, I am often away from home, so I can't guarantee how often this will be updated. Though, as I take many pics, I do often upload them, so I am sure that I will be around..cause I like to share my pics with others.

FYI, I did get my heat on in my apartment later on in the day yesterday,so all is well. Which is good because it is not going to get any warmer outside for now.

I have uploaded 2 pictures from a hike in Farwell Canyon, which is in BC. It's hard to believe that I'd find some sand dunes in Canada, but there are some. I took great chances using my camera on it, especially to capture the wind blowing the sand around..it could have easily destroyed my camera if a grain of sand got in the lens barrel. Thankfully, all was well..and I kept it most of the time in in a Ziploc tm baggie. But it all turned out so well.

For the Puma tracks, some of us actually saw it sitting, whereas some, like me, only saw it's tail as it was fleeting away from us. It did not know we were there until we were only a few feet away, because the strong wind was going in our direction, and the sand quieted our steps. First time I've ever seen one in the wild. We tried to find it following it's fresh tracks, but could not find it in the end...

On top of Torpy Mtn.

Hello,

This is a pic of me on top to Torpy Mtn, which was taken in Sept. This was the first new snow of the season, and it was the perfect day..not too cold, but the fresh snow made the day extra special.

Of course, now, the lower levels, including the city I live in, Prince George, have had their first snowstorms of the season.

This photo blog is more of a winter project of mine, and is also an excuse or incentive to keep using my digital camera's during the winter.

I have 2 digital cameras, a Canon G-5 which is my favourite, and a Sony camera, which I got free when I signed up for highspeed internet through a local provider. The Sony is nice for miserable days when I want something that I can stuff into my pocket, though it does not even compare in quality to my G-5.

Speaking of cold, I've decided to add another pic, this time a quick pic of one of my birds, Gobo. This morning, the heat is not working, so it's a bit chilly inside at the moment. I told the landlady about it, and someone's coming in to fix it.. right now, outside, it is 0 C. Thankfully, it's not too cold..I hope that this doesn't happen on a -30 C day. I think that my birds will be alright, though I don't blame Gobo for trying to keep warm. While I am typing away, this is her favourite spot, on top of the modem, cause it's always on and so is warm. Let's hope heat returns soon. I almost hate to leave my place, cause that would mean I'd have to put Gobo back in her cage, away from the warm modem.
