Hey, this past weekend, I went the Alzeimer's Fundraiser Film at http://www.cnc.bc.ca/campuses/prince_george_campus/cinema_cnc.htm. Surprise, surprise, I won a Cocktail Party for 15-25 at The Public. Of course, despite them saying there were NO catches, I and others were a bit sceptical. Well, I got a phone call last night from one of those sceptical people saying that she knew someone who also won one of those parties, and that there really is NO catch! So, here we are.
Who the heck do I invite? I am sure that won't be a problem. For all my readers out there, I got a question. As I'd have to tip the waiters, is it permissible to ask the people I invite to 'donate' towards the tip, as it would be a big amount..because of the $400 value of the Cocktail Party? Need advice please, as the tip would be a decent size making my 'free' party, not 'free'.
And...., on a sidenote, last week I 'nearly' won the party, out by 1 number, would you believe?!! So, I guess I was 'destined' to win this....hah! Spending too much time at home with Gobo....When my number was announced, 'Oh, good Gosh', spit out of my mouth loudly.

Wizard of OZ

I am helping out a friend whose husband is a Wizard of Oz fan. I am saving Happy Meal bags for her from work, and I have offered to get some of the toys if she has trouble getting any.

Whose key?

Geesh, looks like someone in the apartment dropped their key. Once in awhile, I find stuff...and try to return it to the owner. I thought that this was the best way for the key to be reunited with it's owner. I haven't checked, but I'm sure it is gone.
Spent tonight taking apart windows and cleaning them. Ugh, they get so dirty! Wish I could get the outside clean, impossible to do that on the main windows...oh well.

Me and Gobo
|

Every day, I notice more and more how Gobo is bonding to me more then ever since she knows she's Queen of the House. She grooms me more now like a companion Cockatiel..and it feels hard to leave her by herself as I am her sole company.

Ticket to travel

Lately, I've been going to see some foreign films at Cinema CNC. I'm going to see this one this upcoming weekend. It's a German film. Last week, I saw Volver, a Spanish film starring Penlope Cruz.

It was a pretty good movie. It's about a Stasi agent who basically has a change of heart.
I really like the actor who played the Agent who was swayed...Ulrich Muhe (charactor's name is Captain Gerd Weisler) and the actor who plays the writer Sebastian Koch (charactor's name is Georg Dreyman)
Ulrich makes the charactor seem to have no emotions...at first...but you can see though his lack of emotions that he has a heart....and doesn't want anything bad to happen to the writer who is being spied upon.

Here's a pic of a toothbrush holder that I bought at the Richmond Night Market in June 2006. Being there was like being in a Asian Market, with all the interesting food, and cheap rip-offs of brand names.

Moving Day

I decided, that since Gobo has finished her egg-laying (for now) that it is a good time to move Gobo to her new and improved (and bigger) digs.
I put her in to let her 'try out' the layout settings of the perches, toys.. I found that I needed to move the top perches down a bit, and that some toys were in the way...Gobo likes to 'jump' between the 2 top perches.
I also found that I had to 'soften' the homemade ones, she was tripping over the spots where there used to be branches going out of. I used my knife to scrape those 'big bumps' down..
And voila! The cage was ready. I've decided to use the smaller one, as a sleeping cage, which will come in handy.
Here's a few pics of moving day, which was yesterday. I still have to go branch hunting sometime...as one can never have enough! Having spares handy is great when I am cleaning the perches, I always have a dry one on backup as you don't want to put wet perches in the cage....

Verdict: Gobo likes the new perch

Gobo really has a liking to her new perch..it must feel very natural to her.
Now I have to keep on trying to discourage her from laying more eggs.. So far, promising. I've been thinking long and hard about getting another Cockatiel. Still not sure yet. I'd have to make a trip to Kamloops to get a handfed one..so there's matter of how to get there....one idea, which I love, is go skiing at Sunpeaks! Gosh, that only makes it harder now.
Still, I feel like I want to test the waters first, to see how Gobo is handling being on her own...she's like glue to me, can't wait till I'm home. I'm her only friend/family now to her, and though she never paid attention to Wicket, I am certain that she misses having another bird around to keep her company.
I bought a big ladder and put it by the outside perch, but so far, Gobo hasn't been on it. I am now working on building a gym for her....I bought some wood dowels this weekend...

Making Perches

I finally got access to a saw/drill. So, this weekend, I spent Saturday puttering away making some perches for Gobo. Boy, does she ever get spoiled now.
