Happy Halloween
|
|
Hi there,
I didn't dress up today, though I am sure the children would have loved it!
I did make a pumpking. I don't have my printer running at this time, so I just traced the design from the vid screen with wax paper...it's basic, but here it is..I have it lit up against the window for all to see, even though I get no children.

Pure Speculation
|
|
This past weekend, I decided to go on an 'insanely' quick trip to Edmonton, which is at least an 8 hrs drive from here.
We left on Sat Morn, had the evening and next morning/afternoon to spend in Edmonton.
On Sat night, I attended the Speculation Costume Shindig. Here are some pics of that event. It was fun and it was nice to see all the friends that I haven't seen in person since 1999. The only complaint that I had was that the room it was held in was way too small! It was very cramped and you got to know everyone pretty good by the end of the night. I should have worn my ST outfit, I could have won the ST battle.
We left later then planned on Sunday, so we didn't get home till midnight.

Thanksgiving
|
|
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadian friends.
It has been another quiet weekend for me, but I visited a friend for a little bit yesterday, and have been doing some cleaning/fixing up at home..
Next weekend I make a very quick trip to Edmonton to visit with some friends.
I am sorry I haven't been here much...it's hard to keep on going with this....mellow mood.

Nowell building trail earlier this year
|
|
| | View all 6 photos... |
|
For this past year, our local hiking club has been building a new trail 130 kms east of here. Today was the opening ceremony, and over 60 showed up! There are 2 trails. One is an interpretive trail that walks through some old growth Cedar. Aparently, this is a very special Temperal Rain Forest with the most concentration in the world of different Lichens in one area.
Some of these trees are over 1000 yrs old, and are just as impressive as the big cedars on the West Coast.
There were 3 hikes today, easy, moderate, and hard. I took moderate. The hard group are probably still out there hiking!

Longworth- a Hot day~!

Here are a couple of pics from a hike to Longworth, which I did in July of this year. It was a scorcher and as I was not the best in shape, it was a long torturous struggle up for me. I got in shape soon enough, and I was doing great until 2 weeks ago.
I did the bushwack from hell- 5 hrs up, 4 hrs down, with shorts (how stupid was I?!) That really took alot out of me, and I ended up being exhausted for many days, and now I have a cold. Bummer, I have not been hiking for 2 weeks, so I am sadly out of shape.
I will be housesitting for 2 more weeks now. The owners were supposed to come home today, but phoned last night, and they still were in Ontario! They said that they definitely will be back in 2 weeks. Ouch, the gas costs will kill me, thankfully, they will reimburse me for it and other costs. The gas cost went down recently to $1.08 a litre from $1.18 a litre...whew!
Sorry for lack of posts..I try to keep it going here so not to lose touch with people, but I am hardly around the computer right now as it's a big job to keep a garden going. But, oh, the bounty!

too exhausted

Hi there,
I'm too exhausted to post photos today. It's quite a bit of work taking care of a place in the country, though work is also tiring many times.
Sorry!
Less then 2 weeks left of housesitting.

June- Richmond Night Market

Squid Balls
|
|
|
Still in June, before I flew home, I visited with my brother and his family.
His wife took me to the Richmond Night Market. You can get a lot of different asian foods there and other items. Just like you are in Hong Kong!
Bubble drink, cane juice, squid-balls, shark-fin soup, to name a few.
Yum Yum! I am getting hungry just thinking about it.
