Smithers Part I

My bird, Wicket, is doing alright, although I am waiting for the pharmacy to call me saying that his Rx is ready to pick up. I am glad I took him to the vets, as his cut is starting to get infected. I can't get the antibiotics soon enough! Hopefully I can get it before I start work.
As soon as photo upload is working, there will be some pics here from Smither's trip this past long weekend. It seems to be down since at least yesterday..which is a bummer. If it doesn't go up soon, I'll post it at Yahoo.
Saturday, the weather was not so good, but it improved on Sunday, so we were very lucky. And it even got better on Monday, when we had to drive back to Prince George (5 hrs of driving)

I had a good weeknd in Smithers..great weather and hiking.
Pictures to come.
I just noticed upon returning that Wicket, my quaker parakeet, has a deep cut on upper part of wing...I went the the vet after work today, but found out I had to make an appt, otherwise it costs...a ton of money. So I had to make the only appt I could make tommorrow, at 7:30am in the morning! Oh well, a friend will pick me up. I took the cab to the vet today, but had a friend pick me up when I found out. Let's hope and pray he's ok. Doesn't look like self-mutilation...
He hides his pain well, he was quite a smartass at the vets..showing off..

The Smart Car

Yeh! I got an exciting start to the day. A ride in a Smart Car.
I know a friend who has one, and I begged her for a ride...I said I'd die for one, and she replied, you don't have to die, I'll give you one anyways...no prob. So we drove out of the city and hit 100 kms an hour..no crosswinds..and I found that there was lots of room in the car, believe it or not...the seats were very comfortable. My friend has drove it to Edmonton and back (500 kms) Hah! It even has both standard and automatic shifting..depending on your mood. And it's clutchless.
I could have a car like this..
Amazing!

My hiking trip euphoria is back! Gosh, how do I survive the winters?
Here are some pics from Pinnacles hike, 1 1/2 hrs south of here in Quesnel. I even got quite daring today ...not scared of hights let me tell you.
We stopped for the mandorary wine at Magnus's afterwards....club tradition.

Hah!
A week tommorrow, I am to take photographs of a friend's wedding. Here's a list that I was handed today to use as a guide.
I am a bit nervous about it, but at least with a digital camera, one can preview the photos...to make sure that they are alright. And I got 700 photos to use up on 2 cards. Lots of room to manouver!
Actually, this list is good..I can mark off the photos that I have taken. Just got to get to get into it.....will be busy next weekend.

On Sunday I led my usual hike to Fort George Canyon. This year, 26 people showed up, but it was still easier to run as most were regulars, thus they knew how to get to the hike...
It was an absolute gorgeous day! Nothing exciting happened, which is good. Well, we had to wait at the end for someone who is with the club, but who came on his own and cleared the trail. He didn't come out right away, and his close friend and roommate was worried. But he showed up soon after. I can just hear her now, giving him supreme heck after!

My Mom came to visit for 2 weeks. I did up my bedroom as a B&B in England.
I've decided to keep it that way, so that I have a little bit of England in my place. And with the lovely sound of the birds in the morning now, that I never had in my basement place, it really feels like it at the moment. I love my place, even with it getting warm during a sunny day!

My Aloe

Ok, I got mixed up on what herb I am growing. It is Basel that I have, not Oregano.
I also got some Spearmint seeds that I want to plant sometime. Ummmm, fresh tea.
Mom got me this nice Aloe Vera plant...it'll like the over abundance of light in my apartment and the Summertime heat.
I still like this apt, despite having some major noise the other night. Some stupid students decided that, after they finished moving out of their apt below me....to go ahead and 'trash' their apt. I woke up on Friday morning at 3:00 am, to the lovely sound of smashing bottles and banging of the walls. The landlady quickly fixed that situation.
